Parents are the key to the life of the school.

St Matthew's:

  • values the role of parents and guardians as their children's first and foremost educators
  • works in partnership with parents and guardians in the ongoing educative process
  • recognises a reciprocal partnership with parents and guardians and its special role in enhancing, renewing and sharing the faith of parents and guardians through the education of their children, and their own participation in the life of the school
  • values and promotes the role of the family in the total human and spiritual formation of the young
  • sets up structures to integrate students, parents and guardians into the life of the school
  • affirms and supports the faith of parents and guardians to become constructively involved in the decision-making process of the school
  • will ensure that the school's procedures reflect the many changes that are occurring in family life

There are many ways parents can be involved at St Matthew's, including:

  • supporting school fundraising and initiatives
  • supporting classroom learning
  • attending working bees
  • assisting in the canteen
  • coaching teams and helping on excursions
  • fundraising and social events
  • working on special taskforces and committees
  • involvement in the local parish community
    (liturgical, pastoral and social activities)

Please note that all volunteer workers in schools are required to undergo child protection training. Visit the Parramatta Catholic Education Office website 'Building Child Safe Communities' for more information.
